Mike Scott – Multimedia Producer, Director & Cultural Media Specialist
Mike Scott is a seasoned multimedia producer and director with over three decades of experience in video production, cultural media development, and interactive educational design. As the founder and president of VideoWave Media, based on Denman Island, British Columbia, Mike has built a career dedicated to blending technology, storytelling, and culture to create meaningful multimedia experiences for museums, Indigenous organizations, and educational institutions.
Mike’s work spans a diverse range of formats and platforms, including video and DVD production, broadband streaming, interactive kiosks, CD-ROMs, and web-enhanced media. He has produced award-winning documentaries, cultural heritage projects, and online educational resources that emphasize community collaboration, cultural preservation, and lifelong learning.
His credits include directing and producing a 35-minute documentary for the Nisga’a Nation, showcased at the 2010 Olympic Games, developing a trilingual web project on Ancient Villages and Totem Poles of the Nisga’a, and producing multimedia content for the Royal British Columbia Museum and University of Victoria. Mike also played a key role in establishing and managing the Gingolx Media Centre, where he trained staff, set up digital infrastructure, and led numerous cultural media initiatives.
In addition to his creative work, Mike has extensive technical expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, and various multimedia authoring tools such as Director, Flash, and Dreamweaver. His background includes professional training in film production, multimedia authoring, and project management, supported by an early foundation in mechanical engineering and technical trades.
Mike’s hands-on experience extends beyond media to include work in marine mechanics and non-destructive testing, reflecting his adaptability and technical depth. Whether developing interactive museum exhibits, producing educational films, or managing digital media centers, Mike brings a strong focus on innovation, collaboration, and quality storytelling.
